If you are looking for a church that welcomes you as a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, or ally, St. John's Episcopal Church invites you to check us out!
Saint John's is a gay friendly church in the sense that we don’t make a big deal about being gay. LGBTQIA people are simply welcomed as they are, and are invited to participate fully in the life of the church. In the congregation some are gay some are straight. Some are single, and others are married. Some are younger and some are older. Some are black and some are white. Some are economically comfortable and others struggle to make ends meet. All of us are on a path to understand life and God better, and everyone is welcome, wherever they are on that journey. We invite you to journey with us.
In the Episcopal Church there is no exclusion from any office due to gender or sexual orientation. There are bishops, priests and deacons who are male and female, gay and straight. We have been on the forefront of the struggle for justice and equality, even as we acknowledge that we have not always been a unified voice. It is still a challenge to be part of a sexual minority. St. John's offers support in the midst of the challenge.
